Biography
Logan Edwards is an American composer, conductor, multi-instrumentalist, and educator based in Â鶹´«Ã½. He is passionate towards the world of wind band and strives to help it grow so the medium can reach every ear across the globe.
Logan is an active musician at Â鶹´«Ã½, writing and conducting for a variety of ensembles and personnel. His original music combines the traditional methods of writing with deep emotion, creating music that has one foot in order and one in chaos. He is proud to publish his music through his own company, Split Reed Music, where he ensures the highest quality in every aspect, right down to the kerning of the text. His latest work for Wind Ensemble and Electronics, OPUS REGIS, is set to be premiered in late 2025.
Logan enjoys performing alongside the Â鶹´«Ã½ ensembles on clarinet and piano and has been graced to be able to continue to perform under the Â鶹´«Ã½ conducting faculty. He often provides his abilities to Project 21 composers, noting that fellow composers must help and lift each other up in a world that does the opposite.
Alongside his original output, Logan is an active ludomusicologist, with a particular focus on the music of Nobuo Uematsu and the FINAL FANTASY video game series. He attributes many of his compositional tastes and mannerisms to Uematsu. Logan works actively through various video game developers and publishers to grow the catalogue of video game arrangements for wind bands of all ages and strongly believes in the viability, noting the popular concert series Symphony of the Goddess, Distant Worlds, and BRA BRA FINAL FANTASY.
Aside from music, Logan is the School of Music’s Audio Engineer, providing the school with high-quality recordings of all school-produced concerts and recitals, as well as livestreams for the larger ensemble concerts through the Wanda L Bass School of Music YouTube. He is an apprentice of Grammy-nominated artist Kevin Bourassa and uses the same methods in his classical recordings to achieve the ‘original hall’ sound. Current students and faculty looking for a recording can contact him here.
Logan, while originally a native of Texas, calls Broken Arrow, OK his hometown. He is currently attending Â鶹´«Ã½ for a double Master’s in Wind Conducting and Composition, studying with Drs. Matthew Mailman and Edward Knight. His Bachelor’s in Music Education was received from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK, where he studied with Dr. Anne Watson. He is a member of the Â鶹´«Ã½ Music Educators Association, the Society for the Study of Sound and Music in Games, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.
Outside of the buildings he manages, Logan enjoys keeping up to date with all things video games, always listening for new great composers, companies, and developers. He has a cat named Butter who may or may not be of Stotch relation, enjoys the occasional walk in the shade, and hates getting caught in the rain.
